Granite District

Granite District includes 81 schools serving students across elementary, middle, high school, and alternative programs, covering the full K–12 range. The district has a wide mix of school experiences rather than one uniform performance level. Elementary standouts include Eastwood School, ranked 2nd of 563 Utah elementary schools; Howard R. Driggs School, ranked 5th; Morningside School, ranked 8th; and Cottonwood School, ranked 34th. These schools generally post strong results in English, math, and science, with several exceeding 80% proficiency in individual subjects.

Among middle schools, Wasatch Junior High is the district leader, ranked 8th of 217 statewide, followed by Olympus Junior High and Churchill Junior High. At the high-school level, Skyline High is the strongest overall, with a 97.1% graduation rate and a 1.8% dropout rate. Olympus High also performs well, with a 92.2% graduation rate. Hunter High and Kearns High have graduation rates above the district comparison, while Granger High and several other schools face weaker academic and graduation outcomes.

Parents should pay close attention to attendance as well as test scores. Chronic absenteeism is low at several leading schools, including Morningside, Eastwood, Wasatch Junior High, and Granite Technical Institute, but is much higher at schools such as Magna STEAM Academy, Hartvigsen School, and Youth Educational Support School. Math is a particularly important area to investigate at lower-performing middle and high schools. Because the data combines different reporting years and includes specialized programs, families should compare current achievement, attendance, graduation results, school mission, and student needs rather than relying on rankings alone.
