Beehive School is a public pre-K–6 elementary school in Kearns serving 489 students in the Granite District, an area with a wide range of nearby school performance. Beehive ranks 454th of 563 Utah elementary schools, placing it in the 19th percentile with a one-star rating. However, its long-term trend is encouraging: it has risen from the 6th percentile in 2017–2018 and the 8th percentile in 2022–2023. Locally, it ranks above South Kearns School, Academy Park School, West Kearns School, Silver Hills School, Thomas W. Bacchus School, and Mountain Shadows School, but trails Fox Hills School and Diamond Ridge School.
Academic results are mixed. English language arts is the clearest challenge: proficiency ranges from 25.4% to 28.4% in grades 3–5, below both district and state rates. Math is more uneven, with 3rd- and 5th-grade results below district averages but a strong 4th-grade result of 43.5%, above the district’s 36.9% and among the better local results. Science shows a similar split: 4th-grade proficiency is 42.9%, slightly above the district rate, while 5th-grade proficiency is 32.0%. Recent improvement is notable, including gains in 4th-grade math and both tested science grades. Beehive’s subgroup effectiveness measures for Hispanic students and students from low-income households—61st and 57th percentiles statewide—are also substantially stronger than its overall ranking.
Attendance remains an important concern. Chronic absenteeism was 30.5% in 2024–2025, down considerably from 45.9% in 2022–2023 but still above Utah’s 23.8%; it is better than at many nearby schools, including South Kearns School and David Gourley School. Staffing conditions have improved as well, with the student-teacher ratio falling to 21.2. Overall, Beehive is still below the statewide midpoint, but improving attendance, staffing, math, science, and subgroup effectiveness suggest a more positive trajectory than its current rating alone conveys.
