Olympus High

Olympus High is a large public high school serving grades 9–12 in Salt Lake City’s Granite District, with 2,151 students and a traditional comprehensive-school setting. It ranks 29th out of 139 Utah high schools, placing it in the 79th percentile with four stars. This is a strong statewide position, especially compared with the district’s 24th-percentile ranking. Olympus is one of the better-performing conventional high schools in the area, although nearby Skyline High ranks higher, at ninth statewide, and Academy for Math, Engineering & Science ranks 22nd.

Academically, Olympus performs above both district and state averages in all six reported 2025–26 Aspire Plus measures. Its proficiency rates range from 33.3% in grade 10 mathematics to 64.7% in grade 9 science, with especially large advantages over the district in ninth-grade science and mathematics. However, Skyline High leads Olympus in every tested subject and grade, by roughly 4 to 13 percentage points. Olympus’ recent results are mixed: science improved substantially and mathematics was fairly stable, while both ninth- and tenth-grade ELA results declined by about 10–11 points. Its 92.2% graduation rate is strong and exceeds the state’s 89.8% rate, though it trails Skyline High’s exceptional 97.1%.

Families may also value Olympus’ 7.4% dropout rate and 19.0% chronic absenteeism rate, both better than Granite District and the state. Attendance has worsened since 2020–21, however, so it is worth monitoring. The school’s student-teacher ratio is 24.9:1, slightly better than Skyline High’s 27.4:1. Olympus is particularly notable for its effectiveness with English Language Learners, ranking second statewide, while its results for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds are closer to the statewide midpoint. Overall, Olympus offers strong academics, persistence, and broad support in a large-school environment, with recent ELA performance and attendance as the main areas to watch.
