Summary
Eisenhower Junior High is a relatively large public school in Taylorsville, serving 1,036 students in grades 6–9 as part of Granite District. The school serves a high-need community, with 55.6% of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–25. Its 2025–26 statewide ranking was 195th out of 217 schools, placing it at the 10th percentile. Although this result is concerning, Eisenhower ranked ahead of most nearby Granite schools, including John F. Kennedy Junior High, West Lake Junior High, Kearns Junior High, Granite Park Junior High, and Valley Junior High.
Academic proficiency remains well below Utah averages. In 2025–26, Eisenhower averaged about 22.9% proficiency in English language arts, 23.5% in mathematics, and 29.9% in science, compared with statewide averages of approximately 44.5%, 41.0%, and 52.2%. Sixth-grade mathematics was the weakest area at 13.3%, while eighth-grade mathematics was a relative strength at 32.6%—slightly above the district average, though still below the state. The closest and most useful comparison is Bennion Junior High, which serves a similar number of students nearby and ranked at the 25th percentile. Bennion outperformed Eisenhower in every reported subject and grade. Schools outside Granite, including Riverview Junior High and Hillcrest Junior High, also posted considerably stronger academic results.
Attendance is a major concern: 30.7% of Eisenhower students were chronically absent in 2024–25, compared with 23.8% statewide. The student-teacher ratio improved to 22.3:1, but remains higher than at some nearby schools. Eisenhower’s strongest subgroup effectiveness result was for English learners, who ranked at the 43rd statewide percentile, while students from low-income households ranked at the 9th percentile. For families, the most important improvement priorities are reducing absenteeism, strengthening the sixth-grade transition, improving foundational skills, and expanding successful English-learner supports. The school’s relative strength in eighth-grade mathematics may also provide useful practices for other grades.
