Summary

Lincoln School is a public pre-kindergarten–sixth-grade school in Salt Lake City’s urban area, serving 483 students as part of the Granite District. It currently ranks 545th of 563 Utah schools, at the 3rd percentile, and has a 0-star rating. In 2025–26, proficiency was below both district and state averages in every reported elementary assessment: 9.3%–21.7% in English language arts, 12.8%–29.8% in mathematics, and 17.3%–23.0% in science. Fourth-grade mathematics was the school’s strongest current area, but it still trailed Utah by 20.6 percentage points.

Attendance is a major concern. In 2024–25, 34.3% of students were chronically absent, compared with 30.6% in the Granite District and 23.8% statewide. The school’s overall ranking has also declined from the 24th percentile in 2022–23 to the 3rd percentile in 2025–26. Lincoln’s results are much weaker than those at nearby Crestview School and William Penn School, both in the same district. Crestview, with nearly identical enrollment, had proficiency ranging from 50.1% to 75.5% across tested subjects, while William Penn generally posted results above 48% and ranked at the 82nd percentile.

Nearby comparisons are mixed. Highland Park School ranked at the 96th percentile, while Olene Walker Elementary, James E. Moss School, and Woodrow Wilson School had similarly low overall results. Lincoln has shown earlier pockets of success, including stronger third-grade ELA and mathematics results in 2022–23 and fourth-grade mathematics in 2024–25. Those gains suggest improvement is possible, but the current data points to a need for a sustained schoolwide focus on attendance, foundational academics, and support for students who need additional help.
