West Kearns School is a PK–6 elementary school in Kearns, Utah, serving 548 students in the Granite District, an urban area where many nearby schools also face significant academic and attendance challenges. The school ranked 513th out of 563 Utah elementary schools in 2025–26, placing it in the 9th percentile with a zero-star rating. Its ranking has generally weakened since 2023–24, when it stood in the 23rd percentile.

Recent test results are below both district and state rates in every reported grade and subject. The clearest concerns are fourth-grade science, at 20.8% proficient; fourth-grade math, at 23.4%; and third-grade English language arts, at 16.4%. Fifth grade is a relative bright spot, with 27.4% proficiency in ELA and 33.3% in science. The school is not consistently the lowest-performing nearby school, however. For example, David Gourley School, about half a mile away, has stronger results in most tested areas, while Robert Frost School has a notably lower chronic absenteeism rate.
