Jordan District

Jordan District includes 66 schools serving students from elementary grades through high school, plus alternative, virtual, and specialized programs, across a large and diverse Utah community. School performance varies considerably: the district is ranked 52nd of 92 Utah districts, but individual schools range from nationally competitive performers to schools needing substantial academic and attendance support. High-performing examples include Bingham High, Herriman High, Elk Ridge Middle, Fort Herriman Middle, Herriman School, and Eastlake School.

Among high schools, Bingham High has the strongest overall profile, with a 95.4% graduation rate, very low reported chronic absenteeism, and assessment results above district and state levels in English, mathematics, and science. Herriman High has made one of the district’s largest ranking improvements and leads the large high schools in English performance. Riverton High also performs above district averages in English and mathematics. At the middle-school level, Elk Ridge Middle ranks highest, while Fort Herriman Middle, Mountain Creek Middle School, and Oquirrh Hills Middle also show strong results. Elementary standouts include Herriman School, Eastlake School, Jordan Hills School, and Westland School.

The greatest concerns are concentrated at West Jordan High, Kings Peak High, Joel P. Jensen Middle, Columbia School, Mountain Shadows School, and Terra Linda School, where low test results frequently coincide with high absenteeism. Secondary mathematics is the most consistent academic weakness, especially at Copper Hills High, Mountain Ridge High, and West Jordan High. Parents should compare schools by grade and subject rather than relying only on overall rankings, and should remember that rankings, attendance, graduation, assessment, and spending figures come from different years. Alternative, virtual, and specialized schools also require separate comparisons because their student populations and missions differ from conventional schools.
