Copper Hills High

Copper Hills High is a large public school in West Jordan serving grades 10–12, with 2,837 students in Jordan District. Located near several other high schools, it offers a useful comparison with larger traditional schools such as Herriman High, Bingham High, and West Jordan High. Its statewide standing has improved from the 11th percentile in 2021–22 to the 24th percentile in 2025–26, but it remains below the middle of Utah schools.

The clearest positive trend is improving student completion and achievement. The graduation rate rose from 84.9% in 2022–23 to 91.6% in 2024–25, above Utah’s 89.8%, while the dropout rate fell to 8.0%. The school also outperformed West Jordan High in graduation, attendance, dropout rates, and all three tested subjects. However, Herriman High and Bingham High were considerably stronger academically: Copper Hills’ 18.7% mathematics proficiency was well below their 31.3% and 37.5% results.

For families, mathematics is the most important academic concern, as proficiency has remained below 20% in every year reported. Chronic absenteeism also remains notable at 23.5%, slightly above the district rate, though it is better than rates at West Jordan High and Kearns High. Subgroup results are uneven: recent effectiveness was above the statewide midpoint for Hispanic students and English language learners, but weaker for students from low-income backgrounds and students receiving special education services. Overall, the school appears to be moving in the right direction, with its next major opportunities in mathematics, attendance, and targeted student support.
