West Jordan Middle is a large public school serving about 1,000 students in grades 7–9 in the West Jordan community and is part of Jordan District. The school ranks 168th of 217 Utah schools, in the 23rd percentile, with a one-star rating. That is below most Utah middle schools, but it represents improvement from the 10th percentile in 2023–2024 and the 19th percentile in 2024–2025. Nearly half of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, a higher rate than at nearby South Jordan Middle and Elk Ridge Middle.

Academic results remain below district and state averages in every reported subject and grade. Mathematics is the clearest concern: proficiency is 27.2% in grade 7, 23.1% in grade 8, and 23.9% in grade 9. English language arts results range from 33.2% to 37.4%, while science is the school’s strongest subject, ranging from 40.6% to 43.5%. There is encouraging momentum, however: every subject-grade combination improved since 2023–2024, with especially strong gains in science. Subgroup effectiveness has improved for Hispanic, white, and low-income students, though English learner results dropped sharply from the prior year and warrant close monitoring. Reported chronic absenteeism is exceptionally low at 0.4%, compared with 21.9% in Jordan District, but this figure is unusual enough to merit verification. The student-teacher ratio of 20.5 is broadly typical for nearby traditional schools. Overall, the school appears to be improving from a low academic baseline; the most important priorities are accelerating math progress, sustaining science and ELA gains, and studying practices used by stronger nearby schools.
