Juniper

Juniper is a public school in Herriman, Utah, serving 544 students in grades 4–6 within the Jordan District, a suburban area with a wide range of nearby school performance.

Juniper’s most important challenge is the combination of low academic achievement and high absenteeism. In 2025–26, proficiency was 36.2% in fourth-grade ELA, 26.6% in fifth grade, and 20.5% in sixth grade; math proficiency declined from 33.0% to 13.4% across those grades. Nearby schools show how varied outcomes are in the area, although direct academic comparisons are limited because most serve grades 7–9 rather than grades 4–6. Fort Herriman Middle ranked in the 86th percentile statewide and had 11.9% chronic absenteeism, while South Hills Middle ranked in the 56th percentile with 18.9% absenteeism. Elk Ridge Middle was among Utah’s strongest schools, ranking in the 94th percentile. By contrast, West Hills Middle had a similar lunch-eligibility rate but lower absenteeism than Juniper. Taken together, the data suggest that Juniper would benefit from coordinated efforts focused on attendance, foundational math and reading skills, sixth-grade transition support, and small-group academic intervention.
