Sunset Ridge Middle is a large public school in West Jordan serving grades 7–9, with 1,377 students in the Jordan District. Its 2025–2026 statewide ranking—117th of 217 schools, at the 46th percentile and rated 2 out of 5 stars—places it near the middle of Utah schools. Among nearby schools, it performs better than West Hills Middle and Joel P. Jensen Middle, but trails Elk Ridge Middle, Mountain Creek Middle School, and South Jordan Middle.

Academic results are uneven. Grade 8 science is a clear strength, with 56.1% of students proficient—above both district and state results. Grade 7 math is close to district and state averages, while grade 7 and grade 8 ELA and grade 7 science are weaker areas. Ninth-grade results are more encouraging: Sunset Ridge exceeded Utah’s averages in ELA, math, and science, and ninth-grade proficiency has risen substantially since 2023–2024.
