Vancouver School District

Vancouver School District includes 42 schools serving students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in the Vancouver, Washington area, with 23 elementary schools, six middle schools, nine high schools, and four alternative programs. School performance varies widely across the district, so families should compare individual schools rather than rely only on the district’s overall two-star, 32nd-percentile rating.

The strongest academic results come from Vancouver iTech Preparatory and Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, both highly ranked schools serving grades 6–12. Alki Middle School is the district’s leading middle school, exceeding district and state results in English, math, and science. Among elementary schools, Felida Elementary School has the strongest math performance, while Chinook Elementary School leads the district in science. Benjamin Franklin Elementary and Salmon Creek Elementary also rank among the better elementary options.

High-school results are uneven, with English generally stronger than math. Columbia River High has the highest traditional high-school English proficiency, while Skyview High School reports the district’s strongest graduation rate at 92.8% and lowest listed dropout rate at 4.0%. In contrast, Fort Vancouver High School and Hudson's Bay High School have lower proficiency and weaker outcome measures. Middle-school differences are also substantial: Mcloughlin Middle School, Discovery Middle School, and Gaiser Middle School report much lower results than Alki. Alternative-school scores are often suppressed, so missing data should be treated as unknown rather than poor performance.
