Summary

Dwight D Eisenhower Elementary is a public K-5 school serving 386 students in the Vancouver School District, notable for its academic performance relative to the economic needs of its student population, with half qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

The school's most compelling story is its ability to outperform other schools with similar student demographics. While its statewide ranking has declined in recent years to a middle tier (3 stars), it achieves proficiency rates in English, Math, and Science that are significantly higher than the district average and often exceed the state average. This contrasts sharply with nearby schools like Minnehaha Elementary, Hazel Dell Elementary, and Sarah J Anderson Elementary, which serve comparable or higher-need populations but have notably lower test scores.

Eisenhower shows a pattern of students making strong progress, with fifth-grade proficiency rates being particularly high. However, the school faces challenges, as its recent ranking drop coincides with an increase in student economic need. Compared to a close neighbor like Lake Shore Elementary, which has a wealthier student body, Eisenhower's academic results are remarkably close, suggesting effective use of its resources. Within the broader context of the Vancouver School District, Eisenhower stands out as one of the stronger performers.
