Fort Vancouver High School is a large public grades 9–12 school in Vancouver, Washington, serving about 1,507 students in an area with relatively high economic need. About 76.64% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–25, and the school’s student-teacher ratio was 21.9. It is part of the Vancouver School District, which ranked in the 32nd percentile statewide.

Academic performance is below district and state averages, with mathematics the clearest concern. In 2025–26, 12.16% of students were proficient in math, compared with 29.54% districtwide and 43.11% statewide. Proficiency was 32.81% in English language arts and 28.70% in science. All three subjects improved from the prior year, and the school’s statewide ranking rose to the 9th percentile from the 2nd percentile in each of the two previous years. Even so, the school remains in the bottom tenth statewide. Graduation was 75.1% in 2024–25, below the district’s 83.0% and the state’s 82.6%, while the dropout rate was 14.4%. Both outcomes improved recently, but completion remains an important area to watch.

Hudson’s Bay High School is the most useful nearby comparison because it is also a traditional grades 9–12 school in the district. Its test scores were slightly lower than Fort Vancouver’s, but its graduation rate was considerably higher at 87.3%, and its dropout rate was 7.7%. Vancouver School of Arts and Academics reported much stronger academic and graduation results, but it serves grades 6–12 and has an arts-and-academics model, smaller enrollment, and much lower economic-need rate.
