Summary

National Academy Foundation is a public high school in Baltimore, Maryland, serving grades 6-12 with a total enrollment of 753 students. The school is part of the Baltimore City Public Schools district, which is ranked 24th out of 25 districts in Maryland and has a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger.

National Academy Foundation consistently ranks in the bottom 20% of Maryland high schools, with low proficiency rates on state assessments that are significantly below the Baltimore City and Maryland state averages. The school's four-year graduation rate has ranged from 44.3% to 70.9% in recent years, which is much lower than the state average. Additionally, National Academy Foundation has experienced high rates of chronic absenteeism, ranging from 48.7% to 77.9%, and a high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a high level of economic disadvantage among the student population.

While the nearby schools, such as Renaissance Academy, Excel Academy at Francis M. Wood High, and Baltimore Design School, also struggle with low academic performance, high chronic absenteeism, and high percentages of economically disadvantaged students, National Academy Foundation's consistently low rankings and performance suggest that factors beyond just funding, such as school leadership, curriculum, and instructional practices, may be contributing to the school's challenges.

Open Quote NAf appears to be in a period of adjustments, that is frequent staff and administrative changes. The middle school lacks extra curricula activities. My child is well adjusted after two years; however, should there be more integration between the high school and the middle school, students can become more productive. As a willing volunteer, the school does not follow through to capture volunteers. Close Quote

Open Quote NAF is a wonderful school, My son is a current student of NAF and I have no complaints at all. The Faculty and Staff are some of the most professional educators that I have come across in a long time dealing with the Baltimore City Public School System. The children seem to know what they want out of there education and NAF prepares them for a bright future.
