Cleveland Municipal

Cleveland Municipal is a large urban Ohio district made up of 91 schools — 50 elementary, 28 high, and 13 alternative — serving students from preschool through 12th grade, with no standalone middle schools, so middle-grade results are folded into the elementary and K–8 buildings. Enrollment varies widely, from 134 students at Facing History High School@Charles Mooney to 690 at Campus International School.

As a district, Cleveland Municipal ranks 689 of 773 (11th percentile, 1 star), but individual schools differ enormously. The strongest high schools combine high graduation rates with solid test results: Cleveland Early College High graduates 100% of students and ranks 175 of 795 (78th percentile), while Bard Early College Cleveland (97.5%) and Cleveland School of Science & Medicine (96.3%) also perform well. Among K–8 schools, Campus International School has the lowest chronic absenteeism in the list at 18.8% versus the district's 54.3%, and Douglas MacArthur posted 100% Algebra I proficiency. Robinson G Jones Elementary School is another bright spot.

District averages trail the state in every subject shown, and Geometry is the weakest high-school area at 17.4% proficient versus 43.3% statewide. The lowest-ranked schools, including Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Anton Grdina, and John F Kennedy High School, generally pair very low proficiency with very high absenteeism. Several K–8 schools are improving, such as Campus International School, Robinson G Jones Elementary School, William Rainey Harper, Garfield Elementary School, and Clark School, while Cleveland School of Architecture & Design declined sharply. Note that spending and student-teacher ratio do not reliably predict outcomes, and small schools can swing widely year to year.
