Summary

William C Bryant Elementary School is a PK–9 alternative school serving 338 students at 3121 Oak Park Ave in Cleveland's 44109 ZIP, part of the large Cleveland Municipal district, which ranks 689th of 773 Ohio districts. Nearly every nearby school — Wilbur Wright School, Waverly Elementary School, Natividad Pagan International Newcomers Academy, Halle, Almira, and Benjamin Franklin — carries the same district-wide 1-star label, so the most useful information about Bryant comes from the school's own results rather than its district's rating.

That school-level picture is unusually consistent. In 2025-26, Bryant's proficiency rate beat the Cleveland Municipal rate in all 14 reported grade-level tests — science, math, and English language arts across grades 3 through 8 — averaging about 43.6% against the district's roughly 30.7% and the state's about 60.1%. Chronic absenteeism is Bryant's other standout: 40.9% in 2025-26, about 13 points below the district and lower than Wilbur Wright, Benjamin Franklin, Almira, Halle, and Waverly. Bryant leads every Cleveland Municipal school in this comparison set, and it runs roughly even with Constellation Schools: Parma Community (~44.6%) on about two-thirds of that charter's per-student spending ($12,139 vs. $6,861). One caveat: Natividad Pagan reports near-zero proficiency as a PK–12 newcomers academy, so its numbers describe a different kind of institution.

Within the school, grade 3 is the strongest band — Math 3 (62.5%) is essentially at the state rate (62.1%) and ELA 3 (62.5%) is close behind — while grades 4 and 5 and science are the weakest areas. Middle-grade ELA has improved steadily, with ELA 7 at 61.1% and Math 8 at 45.8%. Because Bryant spans PK–9 and each grade is small, a single class can swing a grade-level rate by tens of points, so one-year changes should be read cautiously. About two in five students still miss enough school to be flagged, and Bryant's $12,139 per-student spending is close to that of nearby district schools posting much lower results — spending alone doesn't explain the difference.
