Summary:

Spokane School District includes 37 elementary-level schools in the Spokane area, generally serving PK–5 or PK–6, with some programs extending through middle school grades. Schools range from 248 to 508 students, and the district is ranked 118th of 238 Washington districts. Across the schools, 2025–2026 proficiency rates average about 42.7% in English language arts, 41.2% in math, and 48.6% in science, although individual results vary widely.

The strongest current traditional elementary schools are Wilson Elementary, Moran Prairie Elementary, Hutton Elementary, and Mullan Road Elementary. Wilson ranked 92nd statewide and led the listed schools in math and science, with 79.05% and 88.71% proficiency. Moran Prairie also performed exceptionally well, including 85.92% in science, while Hutton and Mullan Road were consistently strong across all three subjects. Other notable options include Balboa Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, and Westview Elementary. Ruben Trejo Dual Language Academy was especially strong in ELA, with 69.62% proficiency.

Parents comparing schools should also examine grade-level results because schoolwide averages can hide substantial differences between grades. Adams Elementary and Garfield Elementary showed meaningful recent improvement, particularly in science. Schools needing closer review include Logan Elementary, Regal Elementary, Bemiss Elementary, and Audubon Elementary, which had the lowest current proficiency rates. Historical results at Libby Center were exceptionally high, but its current scores were suppressed and should not be treated as zero. Attendance, student growth, staffing, and program fit are important additional factors when evaluating these schools.
