Summary

Lidgerwood Elementary is a public elementary school (PK-5) in the Spokane School District serving 278 students in a high-need community, where nearly 90% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and it has shown significant academic improvement in recent years.

While the school's overall state ranking is below average, it performs notably better for its low-income students, ranking higher in that category than many similar schools in the area. Lidgerwood has made impressive gains, climbing 20 percentile points since 2022, with particular strength in 3rd grade where it outperforms the district average. However, test scores tend to drop in the 4th and 5th grades. Compared to nearby schools with similar demographics, such as Arlington Elementary, Regal Elementary, and Bemiss Elementary, Lidgerwood generally achieves higher academic results.

The school has a low student-teacher ratio and spends slightly more per student than some neighbors. A comparison with Shiloh Hills Elementary in the Mead School District highlights how broader district and community factors can influence performance. Meanwhile, schools like Longfellow Elementary demonstrate that higher achievement is possible with a similar student population, suggesting areas where Lidgerwood can continue to grow, especially in supporting students in the upper elementary grades.

Open Quote I really love the principal mr. Barnes he is extremely engaged with the students always present for any after-school activities during lunch time and always roaming the hallways during school. I have really enjoyed some of her teachers and not so much some of the other ones it's been about half and half. I think it is unfair that the teachers don't allow them to participate in things such as Valentine's Day or parties they are in elementary school they should be allowed to engage in fun activities such as these. I'm also very unhappy that they do not have buses to this school because it is a madhouse when trying to pick up your children at the end of the day. I do love some of the great after-school activities they do like Lego building competitions and book bingo and movie Nights. My daughter has seem to be top of her class all four years of being here so I know she is soaking in a lot of knowledge. I also wish they would have more Sports programs through the school of the only one they do now is like cross country but I wish they had things such as soccer or baseball through the school. Also I wish they had more dairy-free and gluten-free options when it comes to school lunches I am highly disappointed in the food options for children it seems to be full of sugar and carbs Close Quote
