Summary

Hutton Elementary is a public PK-6 school serving 492 students in Spokane, WA, and is a consistently high-performing school within the Spokane School District.

Academically, Hutton significantly outperforms both district and state averages, with over 76% of students proficient in English and nearly 74% in Science. The school achieves these strong results while spending less per student than many nearby schools, such as Grant Elementary and Frances Scott Elementary. While Hutton serves a student population with a lower rate of economic disadvantage than most area schools, it also demonstrates effective support for students from low-income families, who perform well above state averages. The school maintains a low student-teacher ratio and has a long history of steady, top-tier performance, though its statewide ranking has seen a slight gradual decline in recent years.

Interesting comparisons within the district include Wilson Elementary, which posts even higher test scores, and the selective Libby Center magnet program. Areas for potential growth at Hutton include supporting special education students and addressing a recent shift in performance between male and female students. Overall, Hutton stands out for its academic excellence, efficient operations, and consistent delivery of a high-quality education.

Open Quote attended the school from k-6, and while the education i received was amazing, and i am forever grateful for the lessons i have learned, the environment is very closed minded. teachers and students are extremely sexist, and rude to any minority for that matter. conservative teachers forced their values on you, and if your beliefs were any different, you received the punishment. do not come into this school expecting equality. Open Quote Common Core Implementation is killing this school. New teachers are not concerned about student achievement just what the principal dorects them to do. I have withnessed what goes on as far as assessment levels and they do not match what is reported. Prinicipal is an authoritarian known for excessive puinishment Close Quote

Open Quote This is a terrible school if you don't make enough money to keep up with the "rich kids". Don't expect bullies to be disciplined if your child is the odd man out. Being different is not tolerated here. Close Quote
