Summary

Stansbury High is a large public school serving grades 9–12 in Stansbury Park, Utah, with 2,314 students. It is part of Tooele District and serves a growing suburban community near Tooele and the Salt Lake Valley. The school ranks 98th out of 139 Utah high schools, placing it in the 29th statewide percentile with a two-star rating. Although this ranking is modest and has declined from the 79th percentile in 2017–18, the school performs better on several completion and outcome measures than its overall rank might suggest.

Stansbury’s 2024–25 graduation rate was 89.1%, close to Utah’s 89.8% state average and well above Tooele District’s 82.9%. Its 10.6% dropout rate was also the best among the district’s three high schools, compared with 13.0% at Tooele High and 13.9% at Grantsville High. Stansbury also exceeded both schools in English language arts and science. Science is a particular strength: 9th-grade proficiency reached 50.9%, slightly above the state rate, while 10th-grade proficiency was 38.6%, well above the district. However, 26.4% of students were chronically absent, up from 17.3% in 2021–22, and the dropout rate has risen from its recent low.

Mathematics is the clearest academic concern. Proficiency was 26.9% in 9th grade and 21.8% in 10th grade, below both district and state results, with both measures declining from the prior year. The school’s student-teacher ratio also increased to 30.3, the highest among the comparison schools, which may create challenges for individualized support. For perspective, nearby Herriman High has a higher statewide ranking, stronger graduation rate, lower absenteeism, and better 10th-grade results in all three tested subjects. Overall, Stansbury offers comparatively solid graduation, science, and district-level outcomes, but parents should pay close attention to math achievement, attendance, staffing capacity, and the school’s longer-term ranking decline.
