Summary

Tooele High is a public school serving grades 9–12 and approximately 1,900 students in Tooele, Utah, a growing community west of the Salt Lake Valley. The school is part of the Tooele District and has a relatively low statewide standing: 112th of 139 Utah high schools, in the 19th percentile, with a one-star rating for 2025–2026. It ranks below both same-district neighbors, Grantsville High and Stansbury High, but above Cyprus High.

The school’s results are mixed. Its 2024–2025 graduation rate was 85.2%, better than the district’s 82.9% but below Utah’s 89.8%; its dropout rate was 13.0%, better than the district but higher than the state’s 8.5%. Chronic absenteeism is the clearest concern: 33.8% of students were chronically absent, compared with 27.0% in the district, 23.8% statewide, 20.4% at Grantsville High, and 26.4% at Stansbury High. Graduation has also fallen from 90.2% in 2021–2022, while absenteeism has risen, making attendance and student engagement important areas for families to ask about.

Academically, 10th-grade mathematics is a relative strength: 31.7% of students met the standard, exceeding both the district’s 23.3% and Utah’s 29.4%. Results improved substantially in several subjects since 2022–2023, although 9th-grade English language arts and mathematics remain weaker than district and state results. Compared with nearby schools, Grantsville High and Stansbury High generally have stronger overall profiles, while Copper Hills High and Mountain Ridge High have much lower dropout and absenteeism rates. One notable strength is the English Language Learner subgroup, which ranked first among 25 schools statewide in 2023–2024.
