Summary:

Alvord Unified includes 23 schools: 14 elementary, four middle and five high schools, serving students from elementary through high-school grades. In 2025–26, the average school in each level scored below the state in all three tested subjects, though some individual schools performed above state rates. The differences between schools are large enough that the districtwide picture alone can hide important choices for families.

Lake Hills Elementary leads elementary schools in ELA and math, with 68% and 65% proficient—19 and 26 percentage points above state rates—and also exceeds the state in science. Promenade Elementary leads the listed schools in science at 45%, 9 points above the state. Among high schools, Hillcrest High leads in ELA, math and science; its ELA and science rates are 6 and 5 points above state figures, while math is 12 points below. Ysmael Villegas Middle leads middle schools in all three subjects. At the low end, Mission View High has the lowest ELA result, 8%, and science is 0%; it and Alvord High each report 0% in math.

Recent changes vary by subject and school: the average school’s ELA result was essentially unchanged from 2024–25, math rose by less than a point, and science rose by 4 points, compared with a 3-point statewide science gain. Individual schools moved in different directions: Foothill Elementary gained 9 points in science, while Valley View Elementary fell 6 points. SchoolDigger’s rankings also shifted: Lake Hills rose 5 percentile points over three years, while S. Christa McAuliffe Elementary fell 21. As context, schools reported free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–25 ranging from 56% at Lake Hills to 97% at Arlanza Elementary; these figures do not explain school results. Absenteeism also stands out at Mission View and Alvord High, at 71% and 70%, versus 19% districtwide. High-school grade-12 science results are unknown because the state suppressed them, and schools serve different grade spans.
