Summary

S. Christa McAuliffe Elementary is a public K-5 school serving 508 students in Riverside's Alvord Unified School District, where it stands out for its exceptional support for English Language Learners and recent success in improving student attendance.

While the school's overall test scores are below state averages, it shows important strengths compared to other schools in the district, particularly in mathematics and science. The school has made impressive progress in reducing chronic absenteeism, now matching the state average, which is a better rate than several nearby schools like La Granada Elementary and Myra Linn Elementary. Furthermore, its program for English Learner students is highly effective, ranking in the 91st percentile statewide. Academic performance also improves notably as students move through the grades, especially in English Language Arts.

Compared to a higher-performing school in the same district, Promenade Elementary, which has similar student demographics and funding, McAuliffe has room for growth in core academic areas. The school benefits from per-student spending that is among the highest in the local comparison group, and it performs better within the district than several peers, including Valley View Elementary and Phillip M. Stokoe Elementary. The data suggests the school has built a strong foundation with its ELL program and attendance initiatives that could support broader academic improvement.

Open Quote This school is a horrible place to work at. Lots of favoritism and the principal let's the staff do whatever they want. The principal also harrasses the employees and is not confrontational therefore does not fix the issues from the root but let's it continue to harvest, fester and grow. DO NOT WORK IN THIS PLACE.
