Summary

Rosemary Kennedy Elementary is a K-5 public school serving 398 students in Riverside, California, within the Alvord Unified School District, and it stands out for making impressive academic gains in recent years despite serving a community with high economic need.

The school has shown remarkable improvement, climbing from a low state ranking three years ago to a much stronger position today, consistently outperforming the Alvord Unified district average in English and Math. This positive trajectory, which includes a significant reduction in student absenteeism, contrasts with many nearby schools like Foothill Elementary and Arlanza Elementary that are performing below the district average. Rosemary Kennedy is particularly effective in supporting its students from low-income families, ranking above average statewide in this area.

While the school excels in early grades, especially fourth-grade English, it faces a common district-wide challenge with fifth-grade math scores. With higher per-student funding than peers like Valley View Elementary, the school's improving results suggest resources are being used effectively. Its performance is similar to a school like Jackson Elementary in the Riverside Unified district, which has similar demographics but lower funding, indicating that Rosemary Kennedy's approach is yielding positive outcomes for its students.

Open Quote My daughter has been going here for 2 years now. Last year she had Mrs. Manda for a kindergarten teacher and this year Miss Reese as 1st grade. Both teachers have been amazing with communication, making sure each child is understanding the lessons & in my daughters case, giving her the challenge & even sending home extra work for her.

The principal Mrs. Casillas has been nothing but absolutely kind & amazing, as well as the rest of the office staff. Everyone in the office is very sweet, helpful & you can tell they genuinely care about the students and how they are doing rather than just only caring about their paycheck.

I would recommend this school to anyone who lives in the arlanza/La Sierra?Arlington Area. Close Quote
