Summary

Providence Hall is a public charter school located in Herriman, Utah, serving grades K-12 with a total enrollment of 2,104 students. The school has a diverse student population, with 20.34% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch in the 2023-2024 school year.

Providence Hall has consistently high four-year graduation rates, ranging from 88.3% to 94.3% over the past few years, which are above the state average. However, the school's dropout rates have fluctuated between 5.7% and 9.8% in recent years, which are generally higher than the state average. Additionally, Providence Hall has experienced high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 7.3% to 25.2% in the past few years, significantly higher than the state average. The school's test scores in RISE/RISE and Utah Aspire Plus assessments are generally lower than the state averages across various grade levels and subject areas, particularly in mathematics and science.

When compared to nearby charter schools, such as Early Light Academy at Daybreak and North Star Academy, Providence Hall's test scores are generally lower, particularly in mathematics and science. The school's lower spending per student ($7,309 in 2018-2019) and higher student-teacher ratio, ranging from 17.2 to 18.3 in recent years, may be contributing factors to the academic challenges faced by Providence Hall. Developing strategies to address chronic absenteeism and improve academic performance, especially in mathematics and science, could be crucial for the school to better support its students and close the achievement gap with nearby high-performing schools.

Open Quote This is my family’s fifth year at Providence Hall and we happen to have a student at each school. We like the Providence Hall schools for a number of reasons as unique as our kids. Our daughter at the high school likes the emphasis on academic excellence and the IB Program. She appreciates the opportunity to take AP classes as well as start the IB Program in 11th grade. Our son at the Junior High likes his teachers and the elective classes offered as well as after school clubs. Our son at the Elementary has a teacher that is able to give him individualized help to keep him engaged and progressing. We love the smaller class sizes and the administration at each school is top notch. From uniforms to curriculum to the environment as a whole, we love Providence Hall. Close Quote

Open Quote We have loved Providence Hall, particularly the elementary and junior high. Our experiences with teachers and staff have been overwhelmingly positive. Our children's needs and academic abilities range from severe disabilities requiring IEPs to minor learning disabilities to high academic achievers who have received ACT scores of 33 and 34. ALL of these kids thrived at Providence Hall. The special education department is fantastic, as are the honors and IB classes. Our kids have experienced inclusivity and kindness at these schools. The office staff at all three schools are personable and helpful. The junior high principal is particularly wonderful. Even though it is her first year she seems to know each student by name and is fantastic at communication and problem solving. The kids love her! The atmosphere at the school is happy and positive. Our kids have been involved in a range of activities, including music, drama, athletics, anti-bullying clubs, student council, and academic clubs. We have found the homework load to be just right (very manageable) with the exception of high school IB classes, which is to be expected. No school is perfect, and we have definitely had some teachers we loved more than others, but we would overall give this school our highest recommendation! Close Quote

Open Quote Our family moved here last year and had a few choices of where to attend school. I am a teacher and I wanted to work at a school my own students attend. I asked around and got many great reviews for Providence Hall so I applied! I am now working as a teacher at the Junior high and have all 3 of my students enrolled at the school. When we moved here I had one at the elementary, junior high and high school. As a teacher I love the positive feeling I get from my Administration. I feel valued and appreciated which helps as I do my job. I love the feel at the school. The students love being there, the faculty enjoys being there it really is a great place to work and be a part of. As a mom the feeling I get when I work with the teachers is that each teacher knows my child and does the best they can to help them. My daughter mentioned how she feels there is not as many "clicks" and she feels that she belongs. My son who has struggled in reading has gotten so much help and each of his teachers understands and is willing to work with him. It has been a positive experience! I definitely will continue to work and have my own children attend school here. We all love it! Close Quote

Open Quote As a new administrator to this school, I can not convey how warm and welcoming the entire staff is at this school. I came from a large school that was also wonderful, but I have to say that many of our community members share that when they walk into the building, they feel like they are coming home. It is truly a kind and generous community and I feel honored to get to be one of the leaders here. Close Quote

Open Quote We have loved the small school experience here at Providence Hall! The classes are smaller and there's a total feeling of community and belonging. The administration is awesome and my kids have made great friends!! The only reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5 star review is that we have had a few teachers that were not the ideal teachers. But we have had more fabulous teachers and I'm sure you get a mix anywher you go. Close Quote

Open Quote We transferred here from another local charter school and have been very impressed! My daughter started in 4th grade and has been at Providence Hall Elementary for two years now. She had one of the best teachers I've ever known last year, and this year her teacher is just as amazing! They know who she is, where she needs to make progress, and how to help her get there. My daughter also struggles with severe anxiety and the counseling support staff has been WONDERFUL. They've worked with her and walked that fine line between supporting her and pushing her to grow.
