McKnight Middle School is a public school for grades 6–8 in Renton, Washington, serving 811 students in the Renton School District. Its student population is relatively economically diverse, with 48.95% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–25. McKnight ranks around the middle statewide—256th of 514 Washington middle schools, or about the 50th percentile—and has a three-star rating. Its 21.2-to-1 student-teacher ratio is typical for nearby middle schools.

Academically, McKnight is a relative strength within Renton but not a statewide leader. In 2025–26, proficiency was 42.84% in English language arts, 40.44% in math, and 42.45% in science. Math is the clearest local strength: McKnight exceeded the Nelsen Middle School and Dimmitt Middle School in every tested subject and surpassed the district average in each listed math grade. However, Vera Risdon Middle School performed substantially better in all three subjects, making it the most useful nearby benchmark.
