Summary

Meeker Middle School is a public school serving about 780 students in grades 6-8 within the Kent School District in Renton, WA, performing in the middle range compared to other schools in its district and across the state.

Academically, Meeker's test scores in English, Math, and Science are below the Washington state average, but it performs better than some district peers like Mill Creek Middle School and Canyon Ridge Middle School, while trailing higher-performing schools such as Northwood Middle School. A notable finding is that Meridian Middle School, which serves a similar student population, achieves significantly higher scores, showing that different schools can produce different results with similar demographics. The school has a higher student-to-teacher ratio than other nearby schools, which may impact classroom resources.

Performance has dipped slightly in recent years after a stronger period during the 2020-2021 school year. The school shows a particular strength in supporting students in special education programs. However, there are significant performance gaps among different groups of students, with a notable difference in outcomes between male and female students. The surrounding district plays a role, as schools in top-rated districts like the Issaquah School District (home to Maywood Middle School) consistently outperform those in the Kent district.

Open Quote Very lazy administration here. They allow rampant bullying and threats towards students and the bully is never held accountable. They do not want to hear out the students who are being bullied and do not take their complaints seriously. This school is an extremely unsafe environment. Close Quote
