The school is the largest traditional comprehensive high school in the local comparison and has a 2025–2026 statewide rank of 76th out of 396 schools, placing it in the 81st percentile with a four-star rating. That represents improvement from the 66th percentile in 2023–2024.

Academically, the school’s clearest strength is English Language Arts, where 69.25% of students were proficient in 2025–2026—21.83 points above the district average and 16.44 points above the state result. Math proficiency was 50.66%, the highest in the school’s four-year series, while science was 52.26%. I have two current students at Hazen, and two graduates. It is an AMAZING community of students, parents and teachers. The students are nice to each other, the parents friendly and eager to help, and the staff is motivated to get the most out of every student they have. We are bordered by excellent, and over-all wealthier school districts (Issaquah and Bellevue), but we believe our children were best served by the Renton schools they attended from K thru 12.
