As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My daughter was required to go to this school after we moved to Wake Forest. I was leery to send her due to the ratings the school received from numerous parents. After asking some of my neighbors who had children at the school I felt a little bit better. Let's just say it was short lived. The experience we have had at this school has been a complete nightmare. Numerous students that attend Richland should actually not be allowed to attend (this is coming from individuals who have first hand experience with the children) due to behavioral issues or other numerous problems. One student called the teacher an expletive and nothing was done. The student was allowed to stay in the class with no punishment. The experience we have had has been a bit worse. A young man in my child's class tried sticking his hand up her shorts at the beginning of the year (her shorts were longer than fingertip length) and no action was taken and no follow up from the principal. In addition to that another student made racially insensitive remarks to my child and nothing was done about that either and again, no follow up. Then come to find out there were remarks made about a boy taking my child to the bathroom! Having to explain sexual harassment and women being objectified is not the type of conversation I want to have with my child after school. The principal seems to be uninterested in removing or punishing the students that are a constant problem in the school and instead chooses to cover and make the school seem better when in all actuality there needs to be a complete overhaul with the administration. Needless to say I am pulling my child out of the school ASAP and we will not be attending the school next year. In my opinion I would highly suggest any parents contemplating this school to explore other options such as the local private schools, magnet and others if that is an option. I wouldn't recommend this school to any parent thinking of enrolling their child (especially any special needs kids) as they will be lost in the shuffle and not receive the education or attention you are made to believe they will at the orientation. Open Quote New School, PTA / Office Admin / and Special Needs Departments need structure, organization, communication. We were placed there for the 2014-2015 school year and it was a hot mess. Perhaps, they cater better to the mainstream kids. However, The AU Program is not to par. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
