Summary

Jones Dairy Elementary is a PK–5 public elementary school in Wake Forest, NC, serving 627 students as part of Wake County Schools. The school has an established record as one of the strongest elementary schools in the Wake Forest/Rolesville area, earning a #92 ranking out of 1,492 North Carolina elementary schools — the 94th percentile — and a 5-star rating in the most recent state report. This is not a one-year anomaly; over the past decade, Jones Dairy has earned 5-star ratings in nine of the last ten reported years, with historical state ranks ranging from #28 to #92.

Among nearby traditional public elementary schools, Jones Dairy is the highest-ranked, outperforming Heritage Elementary (#159), Sanford Creek Elementary (#373), Rolesville Elementary (#407), Wake Forest Elementary (#415), North Forest Pines Elementary (#583), and Forest Pines Drive Elementary (#870). The only local school with a slightly higher rank is Envision Science Academy, a charter school coming in at #60. EOG proficiency at Jones Dairy is well above both Wake County Schools and state averages in nearly every grade and subject, with the largest gaps appearing in reading — where the school sits 20–30 points above the statewide average. Chronic absenteeism is also remarkably low at 6.9%, compared to 20.5% for the district and 24.2% for the state.

Jones Dairy's success extends broadly across student groups. Hispanic students ranked #1 in the state in 2023–24, and African American, low-income, and special education subgroups all scored in the 94th–97th percentiles in the most recent rankings. The one area to watch is 5th-grade reading, which sits at 72.9% proficiency — still above the district rate of 66.0% and state rate of 55.3%, but below the school's own 3rd-grade (83.3%) and 4th-grade (87.4%) reading results. Notably, Jones Dairy achieves these outcomes while carrying the highest student-teacher ratio (16.5) among neighboring schools and spending a mid-range $10,583 per student, indicating that its results are driven by school effectiveness, instruction, and a strong attendance culture rather than extra resources.

Open Quote The school has been amazing for both my son who is advanced and my daughter who use to struggle. She is no longer struggling and is on grade level and her self-esteem has greatly improved. We couldn't be happier at this school. The PTA is very active and the school has a strong sense of community. The teachers truly care about helping each child reach their full potential.
