Pleasant Union Elementary is a traditional PK–5 public school in Raleigh’s Wake County Schools system, enrolling about 530 students in a highly competitive cluster of schools that includes some of North Carolina’s strongest elementary options as well as several lower-performing ones. Despite the wide range of outcomes within just a few miles, Pleasant Union has been consistently strong for nearly a decade, recently ranking 172nd out of 1,492 schools statewide with a 4-star rating.

Pleasant Union outperforms the Wake County district and state averages in all seven reported end-of-grade tests, with especially strong results in upper-elementary math and science. Fifth-grade math proficiency is 86.4% versus 71.7% for the district, and 5th-grade science is 80.7% versus 73.5%. Attendance is another clear strength: chronic absenteeism is just 9.9%, less than half the district rate of 20.5% and far below nearby Baileywick Road Elementary (27.6%) and Raleigh Oak Charter (24.8%).
