Summary

Lincoln Charter School is a K-12 public charter school in Denver, NC, serving roughly 2,316 students and operating as the only school in its district, so school- and district-level data are identical. The school's grades 3–8 EOG scores are well above state averages, with roughly 79% proficiency in math and 76% in reading compared with about 60% and 56% statewide. That places Lincoln in the upper tier of nearby charters—on par with Mountain Island Charter School and Community School of Davidson—though Pine Lake Preparatory and Lake Norman Charter post even higher combined scores.

Middle school is a particular strength. Eighth-grade science proficiency reached 92.5%, the highest among all nearby schools examined, edging out Lake Norman Charter's 92.4%. Sixth- and eighth-grade math and reading results also beat state rates by substantial margins. High-school End-of-Course exams, however, are more uneven. English II (83.2%) and Math III (85.9%) are strong, but Math I (53.1%) and Biology (60.1%) are only slightly above state averages—and far behind regional leaders such as Pine Lake Preparatory and Corvian Community School. This gap between excellent K-8 performance and weaker high-school results is the clearest concern in an otherwise strong academic profile.

Chronic absenteeism is another metric worth watching. Lincoln's 15.1% rate in 2024-2025 is well below the state's 24.2% and better than nearby charters like Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy (35.9%) and West Lake Preparatory Academy (25.9%), but it jumped from 10.8% the prior year and trails the best-attendance schools such as Community School of Davidson (6.5%). Lincoln does not publicly report free or reduced-price lunch data or a graduation rate, limiting comparisons of student demographics and high-school completion. Overall, Lincoln is one of the largest and most consistently high-performing K-12 charters in the region. Families should look closely at the high-school Math I and Biology results and monitor the upward absenteeism trend.
