Summary

Eagle View is a PK–5 elementary school serving 527 students in Elko New Market, Minnesota, a Scott County community roughly 30 miles south of the Twin Cities, and it is part of New Prague Area Schools. On current test scores it is a slightly above-average Minnesota elementary: 54.5% of students met standards in math (versus 44.9% statewide) and 51.9% in reading (versus 48.6% statewide). But science is a striking weak spot — 16.7% proficiency against a district rate of 30.9% and a state rate of 25.5%. That is the lowest science result among eleven nearby schools, below even Lonsdale Pre K-6 (21.6%) and less than half of Lakeview Elementary (39.8%) and La Ola Del Lago at Grainwood (41.4%). The school has fallen 32 percentile points since its 2016–17 peak, and math, reading, and science have each declined for three straight years. Against nearby schools in Lakeville Area Schools and Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, Eagle View's 55th percentile ranks second-lowest, ahead of only Lonsdale; its math trails the peer median by about 10 points and only beats Orchard Lake Elementary and Lonsdale.

What makes the slide notable is that the inputs look favorable. Eagle View's free/reduced lunch rate is 15.18%, well below the 22.8% peer median, and it ties Huddleston Elementary for the smallest classes in the group at 13.5 students per teacher. Poverty has also fallen from 19.06% to 15.18% over three years, even as scores dropped. The school performs below its own district's statewide standing (75th percentile), whereas schools like Highview Elementary generally match or exceed theirs — suggesting Eagle View is the weaker link in an above-average district.
