New Prague Middle School is a grades 6–8 school with 926 students in New Prague, Minnesota, a small city south of the Twin Cities metro, and it belongs to New Prague Area Schools, ranked 114th of 458 Minnesota districts. In 2025–2026 the school placed 71st of 546 middle schools statewide — the 87th percentile with 4 stars — so it currently outperforms its district. It has, however, cooled from an elite peak: 95th–97th percentile from 2015–2016 through 2018–2019, 96th and 95th in 2022–2023 and 2023–2024, then 90th and 87th in the last two years.

Math is the bright spot: 58% of students are proficient, above the district's 56.8% and the state's 44.9%, and second only to Chaska Middle School West (64.7%) among comparable nearby schools. Grade 7 math is especially strong at 63.7%. Second, 18.25% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch, lower than Shakopee East Middle School (42.87%) and Shakopee West Middle School (35.15%) but higher than Chaska West (15.61%). Most notably, the school is exceptionally effective for low-income students (97th–98th percentile, 5 stars, three years running) and special education students (87th–90th percentile, 4–5 stars).
