High School of Commerce is a large comprehensive public high school at 415 State Street in Springfield, MA, serving 966 students in grades 9–12 as part of the Springfield district.

Although the Springfield district ranks low statewide (322nd of 351, 8th percentile, 0 stars), Commerce has improved notably: in 2025–2026 it ranked 238th of 353 Massachusetts high schools (33rd percentile, 2 stars), compared with 345th of 351 in 2015–2016. That makes it the top-ranked nearby Springfield district high school in the recent data, ahead of Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical Academy (273rd), Conservatory of the Arts (314th), and Springfield High School of Science and Technology (333rd). Among nearby schools overall, only Libertas Academy Charter School ranked higher (138th). Academically, Commerce generally beats the Springfield district in core MCAS subjects but trails state averages. In 2025–2026 10th-grade results, proficiency was 37.28% in ELA, 34.55% in math, 27.52% in science, 19.44% in biology, and just 3.70% in physics; physics is a clear weak spot. Compared with nearby same-district schools, Commerce leads in math, science, and biology and is essentially tied with Putnam in ELA, though Libertas outperforms it in all listed 10th-grade subjects.

Many student groups have improved in recent years, but special education and English language learner students remain the lowest relative effectiveness areas.
