Conservatory of the Arts is a Springfield public school serving 296 students in grades 6–12 — an unusual grade span among the city's high schools, most of which serve grades 9–12 — and it is part of the Springfield district. In 2025-26 the school ranked 314 of 353 Massachusetts schools (11th percentile, 1 star), a low position overall but its strongest showing in recent years, up from the 2nd percentile in 2023-24.

What sets Conservatory of the Arts apart from nearby schools is completion, not test scores. Its 2024-25 graduation rate was 100% with a 0% dropout rate, compared with 82% and 9.7% for the district. That is the highest graduation rate among nearby schools and among the lowest dropout rates; Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical Academy is the closest benchmark at 98.8% and 1.2%. Math is the clearest weakness across grade levels, with 10th-grade math at 5.26% versus 18.68% district-wide. High-school results are stronger than the all-grade figures suggest: 10th-grade ELA (26.32%), 10th-grade science (13.51%) and Biology (12.20%) all beat the district average, though middle-grade scores drag the overall numbers down. Libertas Academy Charter School is academically stronger nearby (53.33% in 10th-grade ELA) but graduates 85.1% of students. Special education students improved to the 43rd percentile, a bright spot, and the 10.5 student-teacher ratio is favorable compared with most nearby Springfield high schools.
