Frederick Douglass High School is a Fayette County public school in Lexington, serving grades 9–12 and enrolling 1,770 students. Its results are mixed: graduation is high, but writing proficiency is low, and many students miss substantial amounts of school. In 2025–2026, 97% of students graduated, above the Fayette County rate of 94% and the state rate of 94%; chronic absenteeism was 40%, compared with 25% districtwide and 24% statewide.
