Crawford Middle School serves 710 students in grades 6–8 in Lexington, in Fayette County. Its results are uneven: eighth-grade Editing and Mechanics is near the state level, while Writing is especially low. The central concern is Reading: proficiency is below the state and district in all three grades, at 38%, 41% and 39%, compared with state results of 54%, 50% and 40% and district results of 57%, 55% and 47%.
