Fayette County Learning Center is a public high school in Lexington, Kentucky, serving grades 8-12 with a total enrollment of 189 students. While the school is part of the Fayette County School District, which is ranked 74 out of 157 districts in Kentucky, Fayette County Learning Center consistently underperforms compared to the district and state averages on standardized tests.

The school's four-year graduation rate is relatively high, ranging from 92.2% to 93.5% in recent years, on par with nearby schools like Bryan Station High School and Lafayette High School. While Fayette County Learning Center faces challenges, there are high-performing schools in the surrounding area, such as STEAM Academy, which ranks among the top 25 high schools in Kentucky, and Opportunity Middle College, which focuses on dual enrollment and college-level coursework. Additionally, the high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch at Fayette County Learning Center, ranging from 63.93% to 70.9% in recent years, suggests the school serves a high-need population and may require additional resources and support to improve academic outcomes.

Open Quote My son attends Veteran's Park Elementary. He is in 4th grade currently and experiencing teacher inconsistencies that need to be addressed.

The teachers "pull tickets" for poor grades rather than using the tickets for discipline.

When we leave for vacation the teacher always gives him more homework than the other students have to complete for the same period. When he comes back he is always 2-3 days ahead of the class. There is no reason for this. His vacation time is valuable as well.

It appears that the school is more interested creating good test scores rather than creating good children. My son comes home stressed out over testing and testing results. He is 9!!

We enjoyed K-3 grades, but the 4th grade is almost punishment. The harder he works the harder the teacher is on him. He gets A's and B's and likes everyone. His teacher would not allow him to return to the classroom to get his coat after he went outside for recess. It was 30 degrees!!

We have had several meetings with his teacher and I think she is holding a grudge against the family. She shows no interest in our son and he feels alone in class.

I hope that this review is taken seriously and parents discuss these matters with their children. Close Quote
