Summary

Skyview High School is a large public high school serving approximately 1,869 students in grades 9-12 within the Vancouver School District.

The school demonstrates a clear and significant strength in ensuring students stay on track to graduate, with a 92.8% graduation rate that is well above both district and state averages, coupled with a very low dropout rate of just 4.0%. It also performs notably well in science. However, it faces a substantial challenge in mathematics, where student proficiency is below average, and it has a higher student-to-teacher ratio than many neighboring schools. Performance varies considerably for different student groups; the school serves military-connected students very effectively but struggles to support English Language Learners at a similar level.

When compared to other schools, Skyview's story is one of balance. It graduates students at a higher rate than comprehensive peers like Columbia River High but does not reach the high academic proficiency levels of specialized, selective schools like the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics. Schools in neighboring districts, such as Ridgefield High School in the Ridgefield School District, often show stronger test scores. Ultimately, Skyview is a school that successfully guides the vast majority of its diverse student body to graduation, though academic results, particularly in math, indicate an area for focused improvement.
