Summary:

Mead School District is a relatively strong Washington district with 17 schools serving students from elementary through high school, plus alternative programs. The district enrolls about 10,657 students and ranks 51st out of 238 Washington districts, placing it around the 79th percentile statewide. Performance varies considerably among schools, so comparing individual campuses is more useful than relying only on the district average.

The strongest elementary schools are Skyline Elementary, Midway Elementary, Meadow Ridge Elementary, and Colbert Elementary School. Skyline leads elementary schools in math, with 75.93% proficiency, while Meadow Ridge leads in English language arts at 69.07%. Midway is especially consistent across all three subjects, and Prairie View Elementary is another strong math performer. Highland Middle School is the clear middle-school leader, outperforming the district average in English and math. Mead Senior High School has the strongest overall traditional high-school academic results, including 84.51% English proficiency, while Mt Spokane High School has the highest graduation rate at 92.1%.

The main concerns are middle-school math, elementary science, and uneven results among elementary schools. Northwood Middle School and Mountainside Middle School report math proficiency near 40%, while science results declined across most elementary schools. Shiloh Hills Elementary has the lowest elementary results and may require additional support; Creekside Elementary School is improving but remains below district averages in some subjects. Mead Learning Options has comparatively strong science but lower graduation and higher dropout rates. Results for Mead Open Doors should be interpreted cautiously because enrollment is very small and some results are suppressed.
