Summary

Creekside Elementary School is a public elementary school (PK-5) serving 355 students in the generally high-performing Mead School District.

Currently, Creekside's academic performance is below the average for both its district and the state, particularly in English and Math, though it shows a recent trend of very gradual improvement. The school serves a student population with a high level of economic need, which is a significant factor in its performance relative to other schools in Mead. Interestingly, Creekside receives more funding per student than most other elementary schools in the district, including top performers like Midway Elementary and Meadow Ridge Elementary, highlighting the challenge of translating resources into academic gains.

Within the Mead district, there is a notable performance gap, with Creekside and Shiloh Hills Elementary at the lower end, while schools like Colbert Elementary excel. However, compared to some schools in neighboring districts, such as Arlington Elementary in Spokane School District, Creekside performs better. Key areas for growth include 4th-grade academics and achieving more consistent results year-to-year.

Open Quote My son attended 4 preschools/daycares before going to Creekside and loved going to school and never missed a day. That all changed when he started at Creekside. He never wanted to go. The Pre-K teacher, Stephanie, invited me in the classroom a few days so he feel more comfortable. I noticed she was very critical of the children, especially my son. Made the other teachers in the class do what she wanted. She also wanted to put him in a special class because he didn't want to zip his coat. He was very unhappy at that school and acted out, which he hadn't done at the previous schools, so she wanted to send the new school a warning that he has unacceptable behavior at times. These children are in Pre-K for heavens sake, and by means not perfect. Quit being so hard on them! Close Quote
