Prairie View Elementary is a K–5 school serving 386 students in Spokane’s Mead School District, located near several other elementary schools, including Skyline Elementary less than half a mile away. It is a four-star school ranked in the 75th percentile statewide, making it a solidly above-average Washington elementary school. The school has a 15.1 student-teacher ratio, and 31.87% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–25.

Math is Prairie View’s clearest strength. In 2025–26, 63.81% of students were proficient in math—more than 14 percentage points above the Mead School District and more than 20 points above Washington’s rate. Science was also above district and state averages, at 58.90%. English Language Arts proficiency was 56.46%, above the state but about four points below the district. Compared with nearby Mead schools, Prairie View ranks behind Skyline Elementary but ahead of Brentwood Elementary School, Evergreen Elementary School, and Shiloh Hills Elementary. The main caution is the school’s recent direction. Results also weaken by grade: fifth-grade ELA proficiency was 50%, compared with 62.50% in third grade, while math remained strong across all tested grades. Prairie View appears particularly effective for low-income students, whose subgroup ranked in the 89th percentile, while the special education subgroup ranked at the 50th percentile and deserves closer monitoring. Overall, it remains a strong local option, especially for math, with upper-grade literacy the clearest improvement priority.
