Wasatch District

Wasatch District is a relatively high-performing Utah district serving students from elementary through high school across nine schools: six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school, with approximately 8,780 students overall. The district ranks 19th of 92 Utah districts, placing it in the 79th percentile. Families will find a wide range of school performance, from nationally competitive elementary schools and strong secondary schools to campuses facing significant academic and attendance challenges.

Old Mill School and Midway School are the district’s strongest elementary options. They ranked 11th and 18th, respectively, among 563 Utah elementary schools in 2025–2026, and both exceeded district and state assessment results in every reported subject. Timpanogos Middle School was the stronger of the two middle schools, ranking in the 87th percentile and showing particular strength in mathematics and science, while Rocky Mountain Middle remained competitive at the 83rd percentile. Wasatch High is another major strength, with a 93.1% graduation rate, a below-state dropout rate, assessment results above state averages, and exceptionally low chronic absenteeism.

Attendance is the district’s most widespread concern: seven of the nine schools exceed the district chronic absenteeism rate of 14.5%. The greatest combined academic and attendance needs appear at J.R. Smith School, where achievement has declined and absenteeism reaches 37.6%, and Heber Valley School, which has below-district assessment results and 31.2% absenteeism. Daniels Canyon School shows mixed academic results and elevated absenteeism. Wasatch Learning Academy reports very low absenteeism, but some assessment data is suppressed or presented as ranges and its student-teacher ratio appears unusual, so families should seek additional context when comparing it with other schools.
