Heber City, Utah, has nine schools serving students from elementary through high school, including six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school, with approximately 8,456 students overall. Eight schools belong to the Wasatch District, which ranks 19th among Utah’s 92 districts, while Soldier Hollow Charter School operates separately. The area offers several strong academic options, although attendance varies considerably among schools.

Old Mill School is the standout elementary school, ranking 11th of 563 Utah elementary schools and performing exceptionally well in English language arts, math, and science. Timpanogos Middle School is the strongest middle school by ranking, followed closely by Rocky Mountain Middle; both score well above state averages, though sixth-grade math is a relative weakness. Wasatch High is also a strong option, ranking in Utah’s 86th percentile, with a 93.1% graduation rate, a 6.0% dropout rate, and proficiency above state averages in every reported subject. Math, especially tenth-grade math, is its main academic improvement area.

Performance is more mixed at the remaining elementary schools. Daniels Canyon School is particularly strong in math but uneven in English language arts, while J.R. Smith School and Heber Valley School have lower rankings and higher absenteeism. Chronic absenteeism is an important area-wide concern: rates reach 37.6% at J.R. Smith, 31.2% at Heber Valley, and 51.2% at Soldier Hollow. Wasatch Learning Academy reports very low absenteeism, but its older ranking and incomplete academic data make current comparisons difficult. Historical spending figures and unusual staffing data should also be interpreted cautiously.
