Middle Schools in Iron District

Iron District has two middle schools serving grades 6–8: Cedar Middle and Canyon View Middle, with 2,087 students combined. The schools have nearly identical latest overall standings: both ranked at the 65th percentile and received three stars in 2025–2026. Both also ranked above the 52nd-percentile standing of Iron District.

Cedar Middle stands out for attendance, with chronic absenteeism of just 0.5%, compared with 15.3% at Canyon View Middle and 14.4% across the district. Cedar also had higher average proficiency in English Language Arts and science. Both schools declined from their stronger 2024–2025 rankings, while mathematics and science proficiency also fell at both schools. For families, the clearest choice depends on priorities: Cedar offers an exceptional attendance record and stronger science and ELA results, while Canyon View offers somewhat stronger mathematics performance, particularly in eighth grade.
