Summary:

Cedar City, Utah, has 13 schools serving students from elementary through high school, along with alternative K–12 programs. Twelve schools are part of Iron District, which ranks near the middle of Utah districts, while Success Academy is among the state’s highest-ranked districts. The schools serve about 12,657 reported students, although the unusually large enrollment and student-teacher ratio listed for Southwest Educational Academy may reflect alternative-program reporting and should not be compared directly with conventional campuses.

Among currently ranked schools, Launch High is the strongest high school, ranking in the 82nd percentile and posting very low chronic absenteeism. It performs especially well in English language arts, science, and ninth-grade mathematics, although tenth-grade mathematics is a notable weakness. Cedar City High and Canyon View High have lower current rankings but excellent 97.7% graduation rates. Both middle schools are similarly ranked, with Cedar Middle showing exceptionally low absenteeism and Canyon View Middle showing strong science and mathematics results. Success SUU has an impressive historical record and very low absenteeism, but current test scores and rankings are not reported.

At the elementary level, Iron Springs School is the current leader, particularly in upper-grade mathematics and science. Fiddlers Canyon School has some excellent academic results but the highest reported chronic absenteeism. Cedar East School is the greatest concern, combining the lowest elementary ranking with weak fifth-grade results in English, mathematics, and science, despite low absenteeism. Three Peaks School also needs attention in English and mathematics, while Cedar North School has high absenteeism. Results come from different school years, so parents should treat rankings, test scores, attendance, and spending as useful but not perfectly current comparisons.
