Firwood Elementary School is a K–5 school on SE Trubel Road in Sandy, Oregon, serving about 430 students as the largest elementary in Oregon Trail School District 46, a high-performing district that ranks 15th of 141 in the state.

Academically, Firwood is solidly above average. In 2025–26, 55.8% of students met state standards in English language arts and 47.1% in math — roughly 12 points and 14 points above Oregon averages, and also ahead of its own district. Science is the clear weak spot: only 21.6% of 5th graders met the standard, below both the district and the state. Attendance is a real strength, with chronic absenteeism dropping from 36.5% in 2021–22 to 23.7% in 2024–25 — better than both the district (32.3%) and the state (33.5%). Students from low-income families are served especially well, ranking at the 81st percentile statewide, in a school where about 60% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
