Summary

Conant Middle High School (M) is a public middle school located in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, serving grades 6-8 with a total enrollment of 257 students. The school is part of the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District, which is ranked 132 out of 158 districts in New Hampshire and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Conant Middle High School (M) consistently ranks in the bottom half of New Hampshire middle schools, with proficiency rates on state assessments (NH SAS) that are significantly below the state and district averages across all grades and subjects. For example, in 2024-2025, the school's proficiency rates in mathematics (26%), reading (48%), and science (19%) were well below the state averages of 42%, 55%, and 38%, respectively. The school's performance is particularly low in 8th-grade mathematics, with only 15% of students proficient or better, compared to the state average of 38%. Nearby schools, such as Captain Samuel Douglass Academy, Keene Middle School, and Milford Middle School, generally outperform Conant Middle High School (M) on state assessments and have higher overall rankings.

The school's performance has declined over the past several years, with proficiency rates dropping across all subjects and grades, and its ranking within the state steadily declining from a high of 57 out of 107 middle schools in 2014-2015 to a low of 100 out of 132 middle schools in the most recent school year. The high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 30.77% to 33.07% over the past three years, may be a contributing factor to the school's struggles, and the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District's low ranking and 1-star rating suggest broader systemic issues that need to be addressed.

Open Quote I'm not surprised by the shamefully low ranking. In the three years we have lived in this town my son has not been assigned a single homework assignment.

I constantly review what my son has been studying in class with him and it is very frustrating because he is not permitted to bring any textbooks or class work home.

Sad to say it looks like the teachers union has a solid lock on their gravy train here, at the expense of the town's children.

If I could afford to stay home and home school my son or place him in a private school I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Whoever is running the SAU here should be ashamed of their lack of progress. Close Quote
